Lying between the sea and the South Down’s National Park, Goring boasts two miles of pristine pebble and sand beach. The beach at Goring-by-Sea is a classic West Sussex beach; a long stretch of pebbles and shingle separated by wooden groynes mark the high tide mark. Beyond this is an expanse of flat sand.

To the rear of the beach is a large grassy area which is separated from the beach by a narrow paved area that runs from the Sea Lane Cafe to Worthing. Much of this path is lined with traditional wooden beach huts.

It’s name? It became Goring-by-Sea in 1908 so as not to confuse it with Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.
